Record Your Screen on a Mac with 3 Buttons

What’s the simplest way to record your screen on a Mac?  OBS Studio, Camtasia, Screencast-O-Matic, there are plenty of tools out there to capture your screen as a video.  The simplest one, however, is already at  your fingertips.

If you have a Mac with either Mojave or Catalina installed, you can easily record your screen simply by pressing SHIFT + COMMAND + 5, which is a shortcut to Quicktime.  That will bring up a panel at the bottom of your screen to choose what you want to record: the region or window (or full screen), the microphone (internal or external), the delay before recording, and what folder it saves into.  The video will be created as an Quicktime movie at a variable frame rate close to 60 fps.  Note that while a video will be created, any editing would need to be done in another program, such as iMovie, Premiere, Rush or Camtasia.
